When a woman enters the Back Porch in Edmonton, she is usually on her way to have an abortion. She is often afraid, vulnerable, and uninformed. One of our compassionate staff or volunteers will welcome her, begin a conversation, and gain an understanding of the circumstances leading the woman to seek out an abortion. We then educate her on the other options she has—adoption and motherhood—and direct her to supports that are available if she is open to receive them. We offer a love gift with abortion recovery and abortion pill reversal information to those who are not open to a conversation.
